Dear Richard, Thank you for the information. We will surely bring your inquiry into the development team meeting, and let you know when there is any output from the discussion. You may be hearing from us in about one week. Thank you for your understanding. Best Regards, > Anonymous wrote: > ------------------------------------ > Hello, your hint with registry was a great help - thank you for that. ezVSP currently saves com allocation to user (HKEY_CURRENT_USER). An other user doesn'st have access to the configured com ports. You can easily check this in devicemanager when you start/stop application - run as different user. That'ss why I used a "service/config" user who has access to open ezVSP and is allowed to run a service on a Windows machine. We will use this self developed service in the meantime, but I think it would be good to have a solution from your side. So I still hope forwarding this to your development team will bring some results. Many thanks and Br, Richard > Sollae Systems wrote: > ------------------------------------ > Dear Richard, Thank you for the inquiry. It may not work just by getting the COM port allocation data like that. Anyway, we will take it into account and forward your inquiry to the development team. We will let you know if there is any update. Thank you very much. Best Regards, > Richard wrote: > ------------------------------------ > Hello, thank you very much for your reply. Unfortunately I didn'st quite succeed - I can see the COM Ports reserved from ezVSP3 in registry but somehow they won'st get started. By third-party you mean Eltima I guess? As far as I know Eltima already built a service for this - I have seen one working with evsbc7 (7.2.313.0) and ezVSP5 seems to use evsbc9 (9.0.369.0) Br, Richard > Sollae Systems wrote: > ------------------------------------ > Dear Richard, Thank you for the inquiry. The configuration you are referring to is saved to Windows Registry. However, as you may know, we do not support ezVSP to run as a Windows service because of the incompatibility from the third-party COM port driver. In the future, we may support this feature if the third-party COM port driver supports it. Please feel free to contact us if you need any support. Thank you for your understanding. Best Regards, > Richard wrote: > ------------------------------------ > Hello, we already use several of your devices but I found in your Q&A (No. 1641) that we can'st run ezVSP 5.0A as a service. It'ss possible to run ezVSP on system tray, but this doesn'st help quite a lot with a Windows Server. So that'ss why I tried running it as system by developing a service, which in fact worked pretty good. (attached screen) Unfortunately it seems like the COM allocation is stored in the GUI or somewhere else, which won'st open as system or any other user. So it'ss limited to the user who configured the COM allocation. It would be a huge help if you could tell me where this allocation gets saved or is there even a possibility to let ezVSP at startup read the COM allocation already done on this client (not limited to the user)? Many thanks in advance for your help. Br, Richard
