Dear Dan Burns, This is Khanh of Sollae Systems' Technical Support Team. Regarding your inquiry, we would like to give the answer with three points: 1. CSE-H55N2 is a serial to Ethernet converter. It is not specifically designed for Modbus RTU. So, it can still work with Modbus RTU, but in some cases, framing problem may occur. 2. We are considering to develop Modbus RTU over TCP device, which can be used in your case. However, we have not had the detailed plan yet. 3. Your system can work if you use two SMG-5420 units: PC <----serial-----> SMG-5420 <--------TCP/IP--------> SMG-5420 <----serial-----> Modbus RTU devices. Of course, this method will require a double number of SMG devices. We hope the above is useful to you. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further information. Thank you, Best regards, > Dan Burns wrote: > ------------------------------------ > Hello, I spoke to you about the smg-5420. > > Would it be better to use a CSE-H55N2 with a virtual serial port to communicate with a Modbus rtu device? > > We need to have our software communicate thru a serial port (or virtual) to a modbus rtu (rs485) device. > > Thank you Dan |
